We’re excited to share that Hill Aerospace Museum was recently featured in a photo essay published by Visit Utah, Utah’s official tourism platform.
The piece, “Explore Aviation History at Hill Aerospace Museum,” celebrates our role in preserving over 85 years of American air power, from the earliest days of flight in Utah through the present day!
From the Wright Flyer to the F-22
The essay guides you through a visual tour of the museum’s galleries, spotlighting more than a dozen aircraft from our collection and the stories behind them.
You’ll see the 1911 Burgess-Wright Model F Flyer that helped bring powered flight to Utah, the Lockheed SR-71C “Blackbird” (the only “C” model ever built) and the Lockheed Martin F-22A “Raptor,” for which Hill Air Force Base serves as the sole maintenance and modernization depot in the country.
The SR-71C “Blackbird” on display in the L.S. Skaggs Gallery. Decades ago, Hill Air Force Base served as the calibration point for the reconnaissance equipment used in aircraft like the SR-71.
